"Photographers are violent people.
First they frame you, then they shoot you, then they hang you on the wall. "
JailBreak Photography was born from Jason DeSomer in Southern Oregon in 2007. Jason's passion for photography has been an obsession since he was 15 years old at Crater High school. He has extensive knowledge in many graphic design programs and has worked as a graphic designer for the last 6 years but has decided to pursue his passion in photography.
"Photography is more than just pointing a camera and clicking a button to hope you get a good shot. Capturing the feelings and emotion of that moment that you choose to freeze forever is very exciting to me.
It's very exhilarating to walk up to a complete stranger and tell them what and why you would like to photograph them. Not only does it force me to step out of my normal comfort zone, but it also makes it possible to meet new people, compliment somebody and theoretically brighten their day.
There are just so, so many reasons why photography is something I think about all day, everyday. It makes me so happy to give somebody a photograph that is exactly what they hoped for or more than they expected, and knowing that they will cherish that moment."
Q & A
What is JailBreak?
JailBreak is a metaphor for normality. I've spent many years going through the motions of life and taking things for granted, as do many people. It's time to escape normality and be a little adventurous and creative.
What's with the Squids?
"Tales of giant squid have been common among mariners since ancient times, and may have led to the Norwegian legend of the Kraken, a tentacled sea monster as large as an island capable of engulfing and sinking any ship."
Mysterious, curious, feared and adorable! These falic shaped beasts are capable of killing a sperm whale or using it's 8 arms and 2 tentacles to hold and hug 10 people. :D
I met you, you seemed really laid back. Is this true?
Indeed it is. I try and not stress about much and I always try and be optimistic. Personally I feel like I do a swell job at it. :)
What kind of equipment do you use? |
|
I use my eyes. I shoot with a Nikon DSLR. I edit with Adobe Photoshop CS4.
|
I see a dog often on your sites, why?
That is Uzumaki (Uzi). He is a Yorki-Maltese and he is my little buddy. I love him very much.

Why don't you have prices up on your site?
Because people typically do not want the same exact thing as other people when it comes to photos, much of the pricing comes into play when talking to the individual. That way I can gauge what the person would like and in what style and such.
It could be as simple as a "point and click and then you are done" or it could be very extensive editing involved with elaborate sets with large groups of people. It all depends on the individuals needs.
I do have special photoshoot pricing for the Anime convention SakuraCon 2010 ready. Details can be viewed HERE
I have further questions, where can I ask?
Well, funn you should ask, you can head right HERE and ask anything you want. :)
Keep in touch and up to date.
